Which characters can I use?
Instagram handles can contain letters, numbers, periods, and underscores, with a maximum of 30 characters.
Should I enter the @ symbol or the full profile URL?
Enter the proposed username. A single leading @ and surrounding whitespace are removed by the checker. Do not paste the full Instagram URL into the username field, because its slashes and other URL characters are not part of the handle.
Why can a correctly formatted handle still be rejected?
Passing a format check only means the text fits this tool's character rules. Instagram may reject a name because another account uses it, it is reserved, or account and naming restrictions apply. Complete the check in Instagram rather than treating the green format result as a reservation.
Does this check my Instagram display name too?
No. A display name and a username are separate profile fields. This utility checks the proposed handle used in the profile address. Review the display name directly in Instagram and keep it recognizable even if your preferred handle needs a variation.
