How to use the LinkedIn Post Date Extractor

Some LinkedIn activity identifiers contain timestamp bits. This utility can interpret those supported identifiers without fetching the post. It does not infer a date from an arbitrary URL, profile, or article. Use the result as a clue to activity creation time and verify publication details with the original source when needed.

  1. 1

    Paste a supported input

Use a LinkedIn post URL containing an activity ID, a feed activity URL, an activity URN, or an explicitly supplied 19-digit activity ID.

  2. 2

    Inspect the inferred time

The tool decodes the identifier and checks that its time is plausible. It displays UTC and your browser's local time.

  3. 3

Use a manual date when needed

If the URL contains no supported identifier, record a known date and time manually. The result remains labeled as a manual entry.

A worked example

Starting point

https://www.linkedin.com/in/example-person/

Example approach

No supported activity timestamp. Record a known date manually if you have one.

Tips for a better result

  • Distinguish activity creation from publication, editing, and reposting.
  • Do not use tracking parameters or unrelated numeric IDs as evidence.
  • Keep the source label when copying a date for research.

The timestamp encoding is inferred rather than an official publication-date API. No LinkedIn page is fetched, and the displayed date is not independently verified.

Frequently asked questions

Can every LinkedIn URL reveal a date?

No. Only supported activity identifiers are decoded. Profiles, shortened URLs, article URLs, and URLs with unrelated numbers do not supply a supported timestamp.

What time zone does manual input use?

The browser interprets manual date and time in its local time zone. The result also shows the equivalent UTC timestamp and labels it as manually entered.
